The Forecasters

BRUSSELS / MADRID / PARIS – On air and under pressure, meteorologists around the world are becoming unwitting harbingers of doom as extreme weather grows ever more severe. Faced with censorship, denial and an emotional toll, they must confront a haunting question beneath an ever-darkening sky: how do you tell the truth when that truth becomes unwelcome?

Six weather presenters, based all over the world, face an unprecedented challenge: presenting the weather in a world descending into climate chaos. As extreme weather events follow one another at an ever-increasing pace, they find themselves caught between scientific truth and public perception.

What do they say directly to the camera, and what remains unsaid? What goes on behind the scenes often reveals more about their story than what is broadcast.

In a climate on steroids, amidst political polarisation and attacks on science, they continue – with varying degrees of success – to try to protect their audience. They are not only forecasters, but also witnesses to the transformation of our planet. In the eye of the storm, they press on with their mission, because giving up is not an option.
