Deník Referendum has a strong background in environmental journalism, a unique experience with investigating environmental crimes and has also participated in a large award-winning international data journalism project and cross-border reporting collaboration. With this programme, they used their expertise in order to build an internal capacity for organizing and leading environmental investigative cross-border projects in Europe, specifically in the Visegrad region.
The first aim of the project was to consolidate a DataLab inside the newsroom of Deník Referendum. The team was able to execute data analyzes and visualizations that could accompany local and cross-border investigations.
