Through their creations, they not only highlight the issue of waste, but also tell powerful, personal stories. Each costume symbolises a social issue, such as the ongoing war in eastern Congo and the increased risk of sexual violence in neighbourhoods without electricity.
Wearing their costumes, the artists take to the streets of Kinshasa: they confront passers-by with urgent issues whilst giving a voice to those who are rarely heard in the city.
