Anna Koens joined Journalismfund Europe in September 2023. She is the Impact and Outreach Manager of the Earth Investigations Programme which aims support environmental investigative journalism on European affairs in and outside Europe.
In this role, she works at the intersection of outreach, public engagement, and impact evaluation. She believes that investigations can and should spark dialogue, mobilise communities, and contribute to policy and societal impact.
Anna is also an experienced editor. She holds a Specialist’s degree in sociology and has a keen interest in environmental issues, urban practices, climate change and migration. She also holds a Master’s degree in European Humanities after completing a joint programme offered by the Universities of Bergamo, St Andrews and Santiago de Compostela.
Previously, she worked as Public Programme Director for Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design, as well as a manager and supervisor in various learning projects.
Born and bred in Moscow, she'd lived across Europe, then spent several years in Istanbul and then moved back to Brussels.
