Jeroen Trommelen was an environmental reporter at De Volkskrant in Amsterdam, where he also served as the newspaper's ombudsman.
He went on to become editor-in-chief of the investigative journalism platform Investico, and was a board member of the Dutch-Flemish Association of Investigative Journalists (VVOJ).
