Alev Karakartal is a senior journalist who spent most of her 30+ year career in mainstream media, and in recent years has been working as an independent researcher.
Karakartal, whose areas of expertise are environmental and climate journalism, environmental justice, rights journalism, minorities and migrants, works as chief editor, field researcher and data analyst both independently and on domestic and international research projects.
She teaches courses in journalism, climate and ecological reporting at various universities in Türkiye and organises workshops and seminars for young journalists and journalism students wishing to specialise in these fields.
