Alex Giuzio is a freelance journalist based in Cervia, Emilia-Romagna.
He covers environment, politics and economy topics. He mainly reports on urban transformations and environmental changes along coastlines and he is specialised in ecological, economic and legal regulations issues related to sea, coasts and tourism. He published two books, “Turismo insostenibile” (“Unsustainable Tourism”, 2024) and “La linea fragile” (“The Fragile Line”, 2022).
He is a regular contributor for the national newspaper Il Manifesto and for the local newspaper Ravenna & dintorni. In 2026, he won the Odoardo Focherini Prize for Press Freedom (under-40 category) for a series of articles on labour exploitation in the tourism sector. For the magazine Altreconomia, he produced a series of reports on the environmental damage caused by cruise tourism. He has written for National Geographic, Il Mulino, Lucy, La Nuova Ecologia, and other publications.
