Andrei is a Romanian freelance investigative reporter and foreign correspondent specialising in issues at the intersection of human rights, conflict and foreign policy in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
His work has appeared in Lighthouse Reports, Al Jazeera English, the Telegraph, New Lines magazine, Foreign Policy magazine, the Associated Press, Politico, the Washington Post, El Pais, IRPI, Libération, Le Monde, the Guardian, Der Spiegel and New Humanitarian, among others. His work has been internationally recognised and he has won or been a finalist in numerous journalism awards, including the European Press Prize, the Ján Kuciak Award, the One World Media Award, the IJ4EU Impact Award, the Livingston Award and the Daphne Caruana Galizia Journalism Prize. In 2023, he was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list for media and marketing, and in 2025 he was selected as one of the Friend of Europe's 40 European Young Leaders.
