Garance Le Caisne is a French journalist who specialises in the Middle East.

She has spent the last thirteen years conducting in-depth research into the Syrian prison system, enforced disappearances and torture. She is the author of two books: Operation Caesar: Inside the Syrian Death Machine (Stock, 2015), which has been translated into nine languages, including Arabic, and Oublie ton nom, Mazen al-Hamada, mémoires d’un disparu (Stock, 2022), which has been translated into Arabic. In 2016, she received the Geschwister-Scholl-Prize in Munich. She was also the co-author of the 2023 documentary film The Lost Souls of Syria, which was screened on the Al Jazeera channel and in cinemas in France, Germany and Turkey. She has also received the Amnesty International Award at the San Sebastián Human Rights Festival and the Main Award at the Budapest International Documentary Film Festival.
