Michele Lapini is a freelance photojournalist based in Bologna.

Lapini’s work is characterized by a deep interest in social, political, and environmental issues. For several years he has been documenting the impact of the climate crisis in Italy, focusing on local territories and communities. He follows the struggles of social and environmental movements and collaborates with various NGOs, documenting projects related to international cooperation and the protection of human and environmental rights.

He is a co-founder of the Arcipelago-19 collective, and alongside his work as a photojournalist he is also involved in exhibition activities and collaborations across different fields, including cinema, publishing, and public art. His photographs have been published by Internazionale, The Guardian, Stern, National Geographic, El País, Die Zeit, Nature, L’Espresso, Aftenposten, and others.

He won the Premio Ansaloni and the UNESCO-OneWater “Walk of Water” contest in 2024, the Environmental Photographer of the Year 2021 in the “Future Landscapes” category, and the “Italian Sustainability Photo Award” 2021 for Best Single Photograph.
