Sanja Mlađenović Stević is an investigative journalist based in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She specialises in environmental reporting, industrial accountability, and the energy transition in the Western Balkans. For more than five years, she has covered heavy industry, air pollution, coal dependence, labor transitions, and environmental governance, with a particular focus on post-socialist industrial regions.

Her work examines the intersection of environmental degradation, public health, political decision making, and economic restructuring. She has investigated the environmental and social consequences of steel production, coal mining closures, and foreign industrial investments, including complex ownership structures and state-level regulatory responses.

Sanja publishes in regional and international media outlets and collaborates on cross-border reporting projects. Her reporting relies on analysis of official documents, regulatory permits, corporate records, public procurement data, and interviews with workers, experts, and policymakers.

In addition to her journalistic work, she contributes to research-driven media initiatives and participates in regional networks addressing environmental transparency and public accountability. She is currently developing investigative projects focused on industrial transition, environmental justice, and the future of former heavy-industry communities in Southeast Europe.
