O Mirante is a Portuguese regional weekly newspaper based in Santarém. Its core coverage includes the municipalities of the Santarém district and neighbouring areas in the Lisbon region. It publishes in print and online and has a strong tradition of local and regional journalism, with close links to rural communities, businesses and institutions.
In this project, O Mirante contributed strong field-reporting capacity in Portugal, gathering testimony from residents, landowners, firefighters, local authorities and forestry specialists and documenting the social and territorial dimensions of the eucalyptus debate
