Journalismfund.eu and the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom announce a new, Europe-wide grant programme aimed at providing funds for journalists to investigate breaches of freedom of expression or press freedom in Europe.

Are you aware of an alleged breach of freedom of expression in your country? Are you a journalist in Europe? Do you need time or money to carry out research to document this breach of freedom of expression?

Then you can apply for the Freedom of Expression Research Grant, a new grant programme by Journalismfund.eu and the European Center for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), with the support of the European Commission.

BRUSSELS - The beginning of the year 2012 saw a new round of research grant applications. In total, sixteen applications were sent in, slightly up from thirteen in September 2011. Of those sixteen, five were awarded a grant.

Jury member goes public!

BRUSSELS - For the second time, after The Guardian's David Leigh in 2011, a member of the Journalismfund.eu jury is replaced and goes public: investigative and data journalist and European Journalist of the Year 2006, Nils Mulvad.

BRUSSELS - 37 journalists from 19 countries sent applications in the January 2012 round of applications at Journalismfund.eu. The 16 applications in sum need €160,423 for their research, an average of €10,000 per project.
