Federico Monica holds a PhD in urban planning and is specialised in the fields of urban research and urban development, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
He is a consultant for NGOs and International Organizations on issues related to urban development, participatory planning, interventions in informal neighbourhoods and architectural design in complex or low-budget contexts.
Since 2021 he is the cofounder of Placemarks, a research studio specialised in satellite imagery assessment, integrated mapping, satellite imagery OSINT and maps visualizations.
With Placemarks he supported and developed dozens of investigations focused on human rights, migrations, environmental issues and inequality.
