This project is a new podcast series called Listening to the City. Journalismfund is funding a pilot season of four episodes. The podcast will feature immersive audio stories that bring LPP and the city to the ears of new audiences, particularly those who are disconnected from traditional written journalism. In 15-minute documentary-style episodes, we will tell the stories of the city and its metropolitan area, with narration from a journalist and the protagonists of the stories themselves. The episodes will be accompanied by urban sounds and exceptional sound design.
We will produce a pilot season of the Listening To The City podcast consisting of four 15-minute episodes. These episodes will be distributed via the LPP website, reaching an audience of over 300,000 people. They will also be promoted through our social media channels and newsletter, which currently engage over 35,000 followers. To celebrate the launch of the podcast, we will host a listening party — a special event where LPP readers and listeners will be invited to come together and experience the first episode of the pilot season. At the end of the project, we will collect data and audience feedback from this pilot season to evaluate the reception of the podcast and determine its potential for future continuation.
