Led by Stéphane Horel and coordinated by Le Monde, the cross-border investigation brought together dozens of journalists from across Europe to uncover a large-scale lobbying and disinformation campaign by the PFAS industry. The project revealed how corporate actors attempted to influence EU decision-making on a proposed ban of so-called “forever chemicals,” while also exposing the staggering societal costs of pollution linked to these substances.
The Fetisov Journalism Awards, established in 2019, are among the world’s most significant international journalism prizes, honouring investigative work that sheds light on corruption, injustice, and environmental harm.
The award highlights the impact and importance of collaborative, cross-border investigative journalism. The Forever Lobbying Project, supported by Journalismfund Europe, has already received multiple recognitions and contributed to advancing public debate and accountability around environmental policy in Europe.
