Rwanda's Parcours

KIGALI - In the run-up to the first world cycling championship on African soil, Aaron Lapeirre travels to Rwanda to document the route.

This month, the World Cycling Championships are being held on the African continent for the very first time. But the war in eastern Congo is casting a shadow over the sporting event in Rwanda. There was never really any talk of a boycott or relocating the event. Could the spotlight on the Great Lakes region perhaps offer more than just a sporting opportunity?

The photo report by Aaron Lapeirre, created in collaboration with photography students from the University of Rwanda in Kigali, is accompanied by an analysis by Elien Spillebeen in the autumn issue of MO*.
