MADRID - The project aims to update Spain’s Official Gazette (BOE) from social media to a live hub on Civio’s website. As the media outlet's one of the best-known examples of public service journalism, these updates will no longer rely solely on social algorithms to reach readers - the project will allow the media outlet to draw attention to their homepage and foster a more direct relationship with their audience.

Publishing in the Spanish Official Gazette (BOE) is a legal obligation for all public administrations - yet its content often goes unnoticed, buried under thousands of pages of technical language. For over a decade, Civio has transformed this information into clear, accessible, and engaging updates that help citizens understand how power is exercised and decisions are made.

Now, the project aims to reclaim control from social media algorithms by launching a centralised blogging platform on its website. As one of its flagship public service journalism initiatives, this new BOE Hub will allow them to deliver real-time, searchable, and interactive content directly to readers - without relying on external platforms for reach.

The hub will feature a 12-year archive of BOE updates enriched with multimedia and thematic links, making it an essential tool for legal professionals, journalists, civil servants, and citizens directly affected by public decisions. This shift will enhance direct visibility, deepen engagement, and reinforce Civio’s mission to make public affairs truly public.

Expected outcome of the project

  • A blogging platform for BOE updates on Civio’s website.
  • A categorised, searchable archive of over 12 years of BOE content
  • SEO discoverability of our updates
  • A multi-channel communication campaign to transition our audience
  • Measurable increases in website traffic and newsletter engagement
