KYIV - The team will clone the voice of one of our top journalists and use the podcast platform and an audio widget on the website to deliver text-only publications to a wider audience. This will enable us to reach a new audience and test AI tools tailored for the Ukrainian language.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

Texty.org.ua is a 'slow' media outlet, focusing on analytical articles, long reads and data journalism. The text and data visualisation formats are our priority. Additionally, a significant proportion of our content is suitable for audio sharing.

Our team will turn a selection of existing text-only publications into podcasts and promote them to a wider audience. We will also add a widget to the website for all new articles. We have chosen to use the ElevenLabs text-to-speech AI tool to clone the voice of the journalist. We have already fine-tuned this tool to our style of publications and it works particularly well with the Ukrainian language.

GOALS

Over a short period, the team anticipates producing audio versions of at least 20 of its long-form articles, 10 of which will be older pieces. If successful, TEXTY will add an audio format to all the articles on the website, with selected articles to be promoted on podcast platforms such as Spotify. The test article, which has been voiced by the tool, is already available via the widget on the website.
