PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Reports from organizations like Reporters Without Borders indicate that journalistic freedom on this topic is increasingly constrained, leading to a lack of diverse perspectives, self-censorship, and an atmosphere where critical voices are often marginalized. Coverage is frequently shaped by rigid ideological frameworks, leaving little room for nuanced discussions on memory culture, historical narratives, and the lived experiences of those affected.
With this project, they aim to build on their existing experience, further expanding their reach and impact by adapting our content for social media and podcasting. By creating spaces for in-depth analysis and reflection, they seek to equip their audience with the tools to navigate these complex issues beyond dominant media framings and to contribute to a more pluralistic media landscape in Germany and beyond.
While their editorial work is well-established, their capacity for social media outreach remains limited. With our association run by volunteers, most of their limited resources have been concentrated in research, writing, and the editorial processes. However, they have increasingly recognised that content visibility is just as crucial as content creation. Without effective dissemination strategies, even the most well-researched articles and podcasts risk reaching only a fraction of their potential audience. Expanding their social media presence is, therefore, a strategic necessity—one that will enable them to ensure their work has a lasting impact, fosters public discourse, and reaches the communities that would benefit most from their reporting. With targeted investments in social media formats and audience engagement, they aim to make their journalism more accessible and sustainable in the long term.
