Supported projects

ONLINE – The goal of this fellowship programme is to train a first cohort of 3 environmental journalists working in different European newsrooms so they can involve citizens in their public-interest investigations by turning communities into active researchers.

HAMBURG – The annual conference NR24 under the motto "Now is the time - Research for Democracy" took place on 19-20 July 2024. Eight sessions on climate journalism were supported by Journalismfund Europe.

MADRID - In January 2023 Maldita.es brought together 20 journalists from across Spain for a two-day training programme for journalists to equip them with practical tools to fight climate-related mis-/disinformation.

HRASTNIK - The media will redesign and update the web portal, add new features and launch a news app. We will build the portal on a modern framework, add features for the visually impaired, and create a button so audience - the 65+ and youngsters can connect directly to the editorial team, making the portal editorial team accessible and enabling two-way communication to engage readers as content creators.

BOTOSANI - The project addresses mainly to the population of this area. We try to tap into the growing demand for accessible, multi-format news delivery, making news accessible, informative, and convenient because staying informed should be effortless.

LUBLIN - The project is meant to increase the scale and effectiveness of the portal's activities. Within its framework, the media will develop financial independence (fundraising), expand opportunities through purchase of equipment and training and improve reader involvement by creating a newsletter and working on the overall quality of the portal).

BRATISLAVA - ICJK project intends to train 4 journalists working in news deserts and in regions without proper media attention in Central and Eastern Slovakia in investigative techniques. ICJK will also create an informal regional investigative journalism network in Slovakia that will cooperate on investigative projects in Slovak regions in the future.

LENART - The goal of the project is to engage and educate the local community by enhancing the website with podcasts, introducing a 'My news' web interface for local news contributions, hosting discussion evenings on local information and media literacy, and publishing a book on media image in Slovenske gorice.

RUSE - The project is tasked to strengthen the news flow in local communities, currently deprived of up-to-date and reliable information. We will contribute to their growth and the strengthening of the democratic process by including and involving them in the media content.

LUBLIN – „We invest in democracy” is a project of independent Polish newspaper “Tygodnik Siedlecki”. We are trying to resist the rising crisis in printed press industry. ;Our readers are spread across 7 administrative districts of eastern Poland, including six& in the Mazovia Province and one in the Lublin Province.
